Ferrari Design Train for JR East in Japan

We’re already big fans of train travel, but the Japanese have taken things to a new level with the recently revealed luxury shiki-shima train suite. Designed by Ken Kiyoyuki Okuyama, the famed industrial designer behind Ferrari’s Enzo and P4/5, you’ll never want to step off this 10-car train.

Opulence starts from the exterior, with the train’s sleek champagne-gold color and geometric windows. Tranquil luxury pervades the entire atmosphere, with Okuyama mixing traditional Japanese materials like washi paper, lacquer, and wood with futuristic flourishes.

Bent wood hugs the curves of the train cars, blending the exterior and interior landscapes, while plush carpets give warmth to the space. Design is a priority in all areas of the travel experience. Guests are served by staff outfitted in custom designs by Uniqlo creative director Noki Takizawa, and they dine on silver nickel cutlery crafted by renowned expert Yamazaki Kinzoku Kogyo.

The sleeper train, which is run by JR East, contains 17 rooms, including two suites. In creating this masterpiece, they are aiming to raise the bar in train travel, creating a high-end space that is unparalleled.

JR East’s luxury skiki-shima was designed by Ken Kiyoyuki Okuyama, famous for his work with Ferrari.

Argentina – Tierra del Fuego and Los Cauquenes Resort and Spa

Argentina is an amazing country to visit, and even more so is Tierra del Fuego, one of its provinces. Tierra del Fuego is divided into four departments: Rio Grande Department, Ushuaia Department, Antártida Argentina Department and Islas del Atlántico Sur Department. All four are worth a visit, you just have to choose the one you prefer or, if you have time, visit them all if you like!

Here’s a list of top 5 things to do in Tierra del Fuego:

  • Harberton, Argentina

Enjoy a walk into Harberton Forest, part of the gorgeous Magellanic subpolar. It’s an adventure you should not miss!

  • Parque National Tierra del Fuego

Go hiking in the first coastal national park where the vegetation is florid and the fauna is rich of animals you may have never seen before as condors and cormorants!

In autumn the colours are spectacular: the hillsides and the trees glow red and it is a unique panorama. The public has access to a couple of thousand hectares only, as the rest of the park is a protected area, a reserva natural estricta.

  • Museo Acatushún

Created by Natalie Prosser Goodall, a biologist from North America, the museum hosts an impressive number of species. It emphasizes the mammals typical of the region and, among the rarest, you’ll be able to see Hector’s beaked whale. This collection was made up with animals found stranded at Bahía San Sebastián, north of Río Grande: a difference of up to 11km between low and high tide unfortunately leaves animals dead.

  • Glaciar Martial

Reach the Glaciar Martial after a good hike, from which you’ll be able to enjoy views of Ushuaia and the Beagle Channel. The panorama is impressive, even more than the actual glacier. If you don’t feel like having a good walk, catch up a taxi to get to the glacier.

  • The Beagle Channel

Go on a catamaran cruise through the Beagle Channel, visiting the isles and admiring the amazing flora and fauna you’ll find there! Hopefully, you’ll be able to see penguins and sea lions too! Each island is full of history facts and stories to discover while sealing: it’s a great way to spend a memorable day!

Each tour mentioned is guided: check the services provided, especially if you’re going to visit the Beagle Channel on a catamaran!

If you are looking for a place to stay and you’re willing to experience a totally relaxing and classy hotel, then head for Los Cauquenes Resort and Spa. Located in Ushuaia Department, this hotel is the perfect place to spend some quality time, enjoying the amazing Tierra del Fuego.

The Resort has a countless number of options to make you feel in a piece of Paradise.

Los Cauquenes offers also some great locations and settings for your dinners and the staff will take care of everything while your event is taking place perfectly and charming.
