Amelie McCann Life in 2025: Triathlete, Student and a Family Seeking Privacy

Amelie McCann is the younger sister of Madeleine McCann, who disappeared in Portugal in 2007 when Amelie was two years old. She and her twin brother Sean grew up outside the media spotlight, and the family has repeatedly asked the press to leave them alone. This article sticks to what has been reported publicly.

Sport

Amelie is described in news coverage as a promising Scottish triathlete. In 2026, her brother Sean made headlines as he competed at the Commonwealth Games, where his parents were present to support him; Amelie has also appeared publicly with the family at that event.

Court testimony in 2025

In October 2025, Amelie gave evidence in a case involving a woman who had claimed to be Madeleine and who was being tried in England for harassment. According to reports, Amelie said she "knew deep down" the woman was not her sister and described receiving frightening messages. The case underlines why the family values privacy.

The family's request for privacy

After Amelie was photographed at a vigil in May 2023, her parents issued a statement asking the media to leave the twins alone. That request still stands, so there is very little to report beyond sport and the legal matters above.
